How can you get to Ijen crater or Mount Ijen from Bali,,? Ijen is located in border of between Bondowoso and Banyuwangi regency, East Java. To get there from Bali to Ijen crater, you need to drive for around 4 hours (from the main tourist parts of Bali like Ubud, Legian, Seminyak or Canggu) to reach Gilimanuk ferry port in the most western tip of Bali Island, where you then get a 1-hour ferry to Ketapang ferry port - Banyuwangi in the easternmost tip of Java Island, and then from this area or Banyuwangi area, you will need a final 1-hour drive to the base of Kawah Ijen which is called Paltuding parking lot as the entrance gate to start your climbing/ trekking activity to reach the peak of Ijen crater. Kindly remember that there is one hour difference time between Bali and Java time. Bali is 1 hour earlier than Java.

Day 01: Bali trip to Banyuwangi for Ijen crater stay

Our staff will pick you up either at the airport or hotel in Bali and the best time to start for this trip is in the morning time, but we are ready to fetch you at least at 17 pm (please let us know either your flight number or hotel detail) and we will fetch you to start the trip to reach the ferry port Gilimanuk in the westernmost tip of Bali Island with a private car which is completed with air conditioned. The trip from your place in Bali to Gilimanuk ferry port will go through the small cities, plantations, rice field, beaches & rural landscapes of West Bali which will take for about 3 – 5 hours driving and it is depend on situation of the traffic.

Upon arrival in Gilimanuk Harbour, we will cross Bali strait with a ferry for about 1 – 1.5 hours to reach ferry port in Ketapang - Banyuwangi, East Java. Day 02: Ijen crater tour and drive back to Bali

00.30-02.00: Leaving from your accommodation in Ijen crater – Banyuwangi area to reach the basecamp of Paltuding for about 1 hour drive. Paltuding is a car park area and also the starting point for the hiking activities around Ijen Volcano and then you will do the climbing activity at Mount Ijen as the following below:

02.00-06.00: Climbing activities till the top of Ijen crater. Upon arrival on the peak of Ijen crater, you will do the Milky Way observation + see blue fire if the condition is possible, we will descend to reach the edge of lake to see blue fire with clearer view, then afterward we will view the sunrise on the peak of Mount Ijen and take a rest and see the amazing view of the green acidic lake as natural backgrounds which can make you forget how tired you are after climbing this volcano. If you think you are too tired to climb 3.4 kms, you can ask some people who have trollies, or they may say taxi, and pay IDR 800,000 to take you to go to the summit from the beginning and go back down to the car park.

06.00-17.00: Go down by passing the same path to reach the Paltuding and around at 07.30, we will leave the Ijen area to go back to your accommodation for having breakfast, take shower and packing your luggage before you leave the accommodation around at 10.00 am or by the latest at 12.00 pm, and then we’ll continue our trip directly to reach to Ketapang Harbour, Banyuwangi. We’ll cross Bali strait by ferry for about 1 – 1.5 hours to reach to Gilimanuk ferry port in Jembrana Regency, Bali. Upon arrival in Gilimanuk Harbour, we will drive to your hotel or any other places in Bali. Ijen tours from Bali - DONE.

He/ She mush bring the health certificate/ letter which explains the visitor is without ashtma and heart problem. This regulation is valid starts on 6 Jan' 2024 (due to,- there was climber died in new year eve period caused by the heart attack). You can obtain this certificate/ letter in where you are now or get it from the hospital or health clinic in your country or in colser area to Ijen crater, such as; in Banyuwangi or Bodowoso town by the latest on one day before you do Ijen crater hiking tours.
